Canadian Slavonic Papers

Our Journal

Canadian Slavonic Papers/Revue canadienne des slavistes (CSP/RCS), founded in 1956, is a quarterly, interdisciplinary journal of the Canadian Association of Slavists, publishing in English and French.

CSP/RCS is devoted to problems of Central and Eastern Europe. It is a forum for scholars from a range of disciplines: language and linguistics, literature, history, political science, sociology, economics, anthropology, geography, philosophy, and the arts. This is the only interdisciplinary scholarly outlet for Slavists in Canada and one of the major journals in the field in North America. It has an international readership and subscribers.

All articles submitted to CSP/RCS are subject to blind refereeing. Only previously unpublished manuscripts that are not under consideration by another journal are considered.

In recent news: CSP was awarded an impact factor of 1.317 in Clarivate’s 2023 Journal Citation Reports, making it the top-ranked journal among all Slavic area studies periodicals! Clarivate’s journal impact factor calculates citations in the given Report year to items published in the journal over the previous two years, divided by the total number of citable items over the latter period. It thereby testifies both to the importance of the research published in CSP, and to the journal’s attractiveness as a forum for the best work in the field.

The journal has also topped the list in the “immediacy” ranking, attaining a score of 0.478. This index refers to citations to CSP articles in other works published within the same calendar year. It thereby demonstrates the immediate recognition and impact that many CSP articles attain. CSP has performed well and improved its standing in other Clarivate rubrics as well.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped Canadian Slavonic Papers achieve this milestone.  Gratitude is due to everyone who has submitted manuscripts, to all our anonymous reviewers, to our dedicated board and staff members, and to all CAS members for supporting the journal.  Please continue to send us the fruits of your research, cite and download our articles, and encourage your students and peers to do the same!
