The CAS and International Relations

The International Relations Committee (IRC) is a standing committee of the Canadian Association of Slavists (CAS), which acts as the national body representing Canadian Slavists within the international organizations with which the CAS is affiliated. The IRC makes recommendations to the CAS through the CAS executive on any changes in its current relations and on the desirability of affiliation with other organizations.

The Canadian Association of Slavists (CAS) actively promotes scholarly dialogue among fellow Slavists throughout the world. The CAS is currently affiliated with three international organizations:

The International Council for Central and East European Studies (ICCEES), which comprises a global network of research associations, institutes and individual scholars active in the field of Russian, Central and East European studies. Since its inception in 1974, the ICCEES has organized quinquennial World Congresses. Professor Andrii Krawchuk (University of Sudbury) is CAS’s current representative to ICCEES, and currently serves as Vice-President of its executive committee. The next congress will take place in Montreal in 2020, hosted by the CAS. Check the ICCEES website for updates.
