My current research focuses on the Nevada-Semipalatinsk Movement International Anti-Nuclear Movement. I am investigating how issues of environmental protection and national identity were intertwined in late Soviet Kazakhstan. Additionally, I am exploring the organization’s interactions with anti-nuclear groups abroad and the impact these exchanges had on Nevada-Semipalatinsk’s outlook.

My current research focuses on the role of the Crimean Tatar people in strengthening Ukraine's sovereignty and contributing to global stability in the context of Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014. Applying Charles Tilly's theory of state formation, I analyze how the historical struggle of the Crimean Tatars against oppression and their active participation in Ukraine's political life have influenced state-building processes and the transformation of Ukrainian national identity. The study examines the strategies of nonviolent resistance employed by the Crimean Tatars in the face of the Russian occupation and highlights their importance for the consolidation of Ukrainian society and the legitimation of Ukraine's claims to Crimea in the international arena. The research aims to contribute to a better understanding of the agency of indigenous peoples in the post-Soviet space and the role of historical trauma in shaping contemporary political processes.
